Birdsong
Picking up the cello at the age of six, Janie Price (aka Bird) became quite the virtuoso cellist and singer at a very young age. Later, she would learn the drums as well and work her way through glam rock bands and all-girl punk groups for a few years. The British multi-instrumentalist soon ended up touring with major artists such as Vanessa-Mae and Kenneth Bager. She was heavily featured on Just Jack’s 2007 album Overtones [#2 UK charts, #91 US] and recently finished recording for his new album, to be released later this year.
Bird delivers a breath of fresh air into the music industry with her second album release Girl and a Cello. Here, classic sounds of the Cello form the base to eleven tracks of fast-paced percussion, modern harmonised vocals and Lily Allen style lyrics. Unique, young and funky fresh!
Sounding like “Bjork crossed with Rickie Lee Jones” [The Daily Telegraph], Bird now returns with her second solo album, Girl And A Cello, out on Bager’s own label Music For Dreams. Following up her critically acclaimed and “sparkling debut album” [The Sun], Girl And A Cello reveals sophisticated songwriting, luscious production, and up-beat tunes – all brought to perfection by Bird’s striking voice.
